Ahh, it’s that time of the year again. Kids are back in school. Summer is slowly coming to end, and I mean real slowly. We are still having extremely hot weather here in Indiana. However, it is still getting closer to one of the best times of the year, Fall! I always get so excited for Fall because of the leaves changing colors, the cooler weather, and not getting weird looks when I drink my hot chocolate.
The Nordstrom Anniversary sale ended a couple weeks ago and we started to see some trends forming for this upcoming Fall season. I even went shopping with my fiancé, Chris, over this past weekend and we stopped by Forever21. I can almost ALWAYS find things I love and want in there but this time, it was a bit more difficult for me.
One of the big trends I have noticed is bold patterns. Don’t get me wrong I love a bold pattern but sometimes it can seem just a little too busy. Some patterns I adore like plaid, and stripes. When I say I adore stripes I mean I adore stripes. Just look through my Instagram feed, lol. I think stripes are cute and they add just a little something to an outfit. I know a lot of people think they aren’t very flattering, but I think if you find the right piece you will fall in love, just like I did. Here are a couple of pieces I think are super adorable.
The reason I love that top and the dress is because I think they make great transition pieces and I can think of multiple ways to wear them. That is something that is really important to me. The stripe top I could easily add a jacket or vest and even pair it with booties instead.
I get a lot of 70s vibes from the clothes I am seeing everywhere. I think it just depends on the patter and color but I found a dress from Forever21 that I actually really love.
I definitely feel like a 70s girl when I wear it especially from the orange and blue together. I think the style of the dress really helps it too. When I first saw it on a hanger I thought it might be a bit too much and who knows maybe you’re looking at it thinking “OMG, that is so NOT cute”. As soon as I put it on I fell in love.
One pattern I just can’t seem to totally get on board with is animal prints. Don’t get me wrong I have a cheetah print scarf and I really love these Halogen Cheetah print slides. I think they are adorable and would probably wear them at least once a week.
However, I can’t get on board with the entire shirts, dresses, or even pants I have seen floating around at stores/instagram, I’m sorry I just can’t. I always hear how fashion is recycled but I think animal prints are one trend I will be happy to see phased out eventually (hopefully).
I think a great thing about bold patterns is that its a great way to express yourself and style. I love colors and textures and fashion is great way to showcase it. I think as long as your comfortable in whatever you are wearing then that is all that truly matters.
